I Passed Away, an amazing talent from Illinois released a new single called 'Japan'. The song starts with chords and a strong bass. When the vocals start, the beat kicks in and sets the tone for the whole track. We interviewed I Passed Away about his music career and his new single Japan.
What makes you unique?
Something that makes me as an artist unique is that with each release, I bring something new to the table. I don't feel fixated on any given genre today.
What drew you to the music industry?
I was going through a rough patch in my life and music allowed for me to find peace. I deeply enjoyed the creation.
Who inspired you to make music?
A close friend of mine, AKZeNT, who has produced many songs for me is the person who inspired me to start creating.
Did you always know that you wanted to work in the music industry?
Not at all, I always thought it would be interesting, but I am a very shy person so becoming a performer was not something I was used to.
Can you describe the music that you typically create?
I'm having a difficult time even figuring this out for myself, but all of my music has a sound that clicks to me.
Is there a hidden meaning in any of your music?
I'm not necessarily sure if all of my songs have hidden meanings, but I want people to interpret my music in their own way. Emotions behind the music is far more important to me.
Explain your creative process for making 'Japan'?
I wanted to give a vibey chorus that would be catchy to the listeners. I thought the transition into rap would give that punch the track ultimately needed.
How would you describe your track 'Japan'?
I would say that this track mixes both EDM and Hip-Hop giving it a unique feel.
What is the reason behind 'Japan'?
The reason behind the track was to give the listener something completely different than my other tracks. I envisioned this song being played at parties or clubs, somewhere people could dance.
What is the message you want to give to your fans?
I want all my fans to know they have someone there, who cares about them. I try my best to respond to all messages and create solid friendships with my fans.
What is next for you?
In 2021 I plan on releasing a separate artist entity known as Malty. I still plan on making IPA content though.
